  • YG Entertainment (Hangul: YG 엔터테인먼트) is an entertainment company in South Korea, founded by Yang Hyun-suk based in Seoul, South Korea. The company operates a record label, talent agency, clothing line, the cosmetics firm, event management and concert production, music production and publishing his own music. The name of the company, "YG" is an abbreviation of  "Y  ang  G  oon ", a name given to the Executive Director / Founder Yang Hyun-suk nickname
  • It was home to groups of hip-hop celebrities like   Jinusean  and  1TYM  , its current roster of artists are known to be an agency which has the biggest K-pop acts to gain international fame, especially  BIGBANG,  2NE1 , and  PSY . In terms of revenue contribution, BIGBANG is the greatest act of the company. 
  • A leading entertainment company in South Korea, his label is also one of the three major record labels in the K-pop industry, along with SM Entertainment Entertainment yJYP are within the so-called "Big Three" (SM, JYP and  YG ), the 3 largest record companies in South Korea due to its strong market share and international operations. The official content by YG Entertainment and its artists have cumulatively harvested more than 7 billion page views and are underwritten by more than 18 million users YouTube channel individual artists.
  • The company officially became a publicly traded company on 23 November 2011. In 2012, the share prices of YG Entertainment saw a year on year increase of over 60%, due to increased advertising after achievements of several artists on the label, especially with his great PSY Gangnam Style hit. 
  • The September 13, 2014, the private equity arm of French giant LVMH, L Capital Asia, said it will invest up to US $ 80 million in YG Entertainment . Based enSingapur, L Capital Asia is the second largest investor in Y G Entertainment with 11.5 percent interest, Yang Hyun-suk, the founder of YG Entertainment , has a share of 28 percent.

  • In March 1996, Yang Hyun-suk, a former member of the legendary band Korean Seo Taiji and Boys, founded YG Entertainment with his younger brother Yang Min-suk. During its early years, the company put out groups that keep the Six Jinusean, most notably 1TYM (pronounced "One Time"), who was credited with hip hop with what the mainstream of Korea. In 1999, the artists of the company released their first collaborative album with the name "YG Family."
  • YG followed and harvesting releasing hits like Perry, Swi.T Big Mama, Lexy, Gummy and Wheesung, with Wheesung became the best selling Korean artist in 2003. In 2001, a second YG Family album was released. Among others, he had the G-Dragon 13 years old.
  • The company grew after signing his first idol singer Seven, who found success in Korea and Japan and was dubbed "Rain opponent 's" at the peak of his career. However, a 2009 scandal with actress Park Han-Byul an unsuccessful debut in the United States, and four-year hiatus from the Korean entertainment industry reduced the momentum of his career. Se7en contract with YG expired in April 2013. 
  • There is an international subsidiary in Japan under the name of "YG Entertainment Japan" . YG Entretainment is characterized by its style of music Hip-Hop and R & B.



YGEX was established as a partnership between YG Entertainment and Avex Group for the promotion and dissemination of materials from YG 'artists in Japan. Current artists YGEX includes all assets YG Entertainment artists. YGEX operates as a joint venture between the two companies label.
